A pared-down design and plan express classical proportions with modern sensibility.
The house’s formal H-plan is organized around a central living room, which opens onto an elegant, classic garden. The design specificed a no-texture, plaster-like stucco to reinforce the building’s crisp lines and simple geometry that recalls classic Palladian structures. Exacting measurements were vital to the project, which applies the golden ratio in all its spaces to maintain harmonious proportions. Thresholds are virtually nonexistent, often even dropped below grade, to allow for seamless interior and exterior transitions. As a result, the house sits directly on the ground without a single level change to interrupt the flow of spaces.
