This house takes inspiration from Santa Barbara-style Spanish colonial architecture and infuses it with a simple, livable modernity.
Located on a pie-shaped lot over looking Lake Austin, the project replaces an existing house on the site and refurbished the original swimming pool. With no access to the property from any other part of the property Don Crowell Builders staged the project from the thin point of the site, which is located on a small cul-de-sac in Austin’s Tarrytown. The house is oriented to take in views of the lake over the surrounding trees and rooftops. Flat red clay tiles and Moorish details evoke the Mediterranean homes of Santa Barbara and a mix of wood and steel windows create a modern interpretation of the classic building style.
